
Research and Teaching
Dr. Irina Chongarova-Aron is a linguist by background and she has developed wider social science interests. Her book on Intercultural Communication (2002) examines the linguistic and cultural aspects of intercultural learning. She has published book chapters focusing on identity transformation through educational and family migration as well as papers on multilingual and multicultural matters in Russian, Bulgarian, English and French. In her latest research projects and publications Irina explores the impact of culture on the subjective well-being and satisfaction with life.
Irina also worked as a lecturer, consultant and researcher on migration and interculturalism for the University of Roehampton, Queen Mary University of London, London Metropolitan University and Kingston University ( the Kingston Business School since 2011). She maintains her affiliation with the University of Plovdiv, Bulgaria, where she started her academic career in 1989. She teaches Intercultural Communication to MA students in Translation and Intercultural Communication.
